Happy Canada Day!
In honour of the illustrious date of birth of the nation I’m proud to call home, I’m going to post my hot upcoming urban fantasy and paranormal reads for the monthy of July! Get ready for some sizzling summer reads

Dark and Stormy Knights, edited by P.N. Elrod: with names like Vicki Pettersson, Jim Butcher, and Ilona Andrews, urban fantasy superstars in their own right, what’s not to love about this anthology? It promises to be a good one.

Discord’s Apple by Carrie Vaughn: you all remember that famous apple that Athena, Hera, and Aphrodite fought over in the Troy myth, right? They all fought over the golden apple, because each of them thought they were da bomb
Well, that apple is back–sort of
Carrie Vaughn, famous for the Kitty Norville series, branches off with a novel about a comic book writer in modern day Los Angeles who takes care of her dad’s reservoir of magic artefacts. But she meets some very interesting characters who would love to get their hands on the stuff, including Sinon the Liar–also known as the guy who gave the Trojans the horse idea and got stuck with immortality as a curse. It promises to be very interesting.

Wait for Dusk by Jocelynn Drake: I’m so excited for the release of this book and I couldn’t figure out why the release date of books four and five were so close together. Until I read book four, “Pray for Dawn,” and then I found out why
It’s because the ending of that book is so compelling that fans would not rest until they got their Danaus and Mira fix. Let’s hope this book answers some more questions.

A Wild Light by Marjorie M. Liu: Ever since releasing the first book in the Hunter Kiss series, “The Iron Hunt,” two years ago, Liu has racked up quite the following for her character, Maxine Kiss, a demon hunter who is covered by protective tattoos by day (and thus, impervious to injury), but when they come out at night, the tattoos become powerful spirits in their own right. Spirits who listen to Bon Jovi and who act like kids, but powerful spirits nonetheless.

Eternal Kiss of Darkness by Jeaniene Frost: Not to be confused with her amazingly popular–and similarly titled–Night Huntress series, which follows the story of Cat Crawfield, a half-vampire hybrid who hunts other vampires, the Night Huntress World series continues Chicago P.I. Kira Graceling’s journey into the supernatural. In this book, she finds herself face to face with a powerful Master Vampire named Mencheres, who has been alive and kicking for quite some time. But Mencheres has to make a choice between the woman who he’s falling for, or using some of the darkest magic to defeat a powerful enemy.
Which titles are other people most excited for? I know I cannot wait to get my hands on “Wait for Dusk” by Jocelynn Drake
Stay tuned for an announcement about a Hot July Urban Fantasy Prize Pack!
