Women in Horror Month Recap

February has officially come to a close, and with it, so too have my women in horror posts and coverage. It was a great month full of dedicating entries to women who I think should be paid more attention to in the horror and dark fantasy communities–women beyond the blockbuster superstars like Anne Rice, Laurell K. Hamilton, Kelley Armstrong, etc. The unsung heroes of the genre, if you will. And with that in mind, I wrote a post for Hellnotes comprising the Top 25 Women Horror Writers You Probably Haven’t Heard of (But Should Know), and there are some good ones on there, ones that I don’t think many readers have had a chance to delve into even if they have heard of them. Here is that list.

In March, you can look forward to my regular book reviews, and since the World Horror Convention is coming up (March 29 – April 1, 2012) in Salt Lake City, I’m going to be doing publisher pitch profiles to give attendees a better sense of what they should prepare and a chance to get to know the publishers taking pitches at the con. As well, I will dedicate each Friday feature to four authors, two of whom have been nominated/won the coveted Bram Stoker Award in 2010, and two of whom are nominated this year for works in 2011. It’s going to be an action-packed and exciting month, and I’m going to be doing coverage of the event every day when I’m there, so lots more to come on World Horror Convention 2012.

Happy Reading!
